I love finding new products and trying them out don’t you? I love it even more when they are Canadian companies! Emerald Creek is a little store in Calgary Alberta that you may have seen in Creative Scrapbooker Magazine these past few months. Their hottest new thing is baked texture embossing powders and they are pretty cool. In fact, so many people think they are pretty cool it takes 2-3 weeks to fill your order for them! I think I saw a video using them back in February and I thought…man I need to try this stuff!
Being a lover of the vintage look, I chose to try the Patina Oxide powder to see what I could come up with.
I tried this little seahorse first. More of the silver pieces came out for him which was kind of neat and you can see that near his spine. It really bubbles when heated and has a thick almost plastic feel to it.
Then I just tried it on an embossed piece of paper and randomly poured to see what happened. It’s a bit hard to see in this picture but there is silver in there with the patina colour. It’s very rich to feel.
This is probably one of the coolest products I’ve tried for awhile. Your finish will be different every time since it depends on how the powder comes out. If you wanted to control the colours by scooping out with a spoon you could definitely try that. I did post a video on the facebook page with a few more examples and such. However if you are interested in trying this stuff I’m already sold out! The next order is already in and hopefully it doesn’t take another 2 months to arrive because I see some fun things in the future with this stuff!
